The importance of CBSE Class 12th board result is highly debatable. While some colleges in India hold CBSE Class 12th result with very high regard, and some don’t even consider it and hold their respective selection exams. Even people have a different opinion about the importance of CBSE Class 12th percentage on a student’s life, career and their potential. The most important question students ask themselves regarding Class 12th CBSE board exams is:
- What is a good percentage to get into good colleges after CBSE class 12 exams?
Well, there is not a very specific answer to that. Many people would suggest that 90%+ is a good percentage but for some colleges of Delhi University. Even that is not enough.
A “good” percentage would be the one which gets you to your dream college. It ultimately depends upon your choice of career and the college you want to get into. For some people, CBSE Class 12th Board percentage decides what do they want to do in their lives. Good Class 12th percentage may even dictate an early successful professional career.
- What about college?
To get into a prestigious college, one might need a good percentage in Class 12th CBSE. To get into colleges like Delhi University, Class 12th percentage matter a lot. More than what a student might think it does. Getting into a top-notch Indian college requires a good amount of hard work as the student needs to score really good marks in their CBSE Class 12th board examinations.
Is Delhi University really out of question for a student who scores less than 90%?
Contrary to the popular belief, Delhi University is not at all out of question for a student who scores below 90%. Though high cut-offs are especially scary, Delhi University does have a lot of options for people with lower percentages. One can easily select the colleges and courses that they want to.
- For scores between 40% and 60%
Well, as people might say these students will be of “no good” but the reality is far from it. Like any other Delhi University College, School of Open Learning offers courses in many disciplines such as Commerce, Political Science, English and many more BA and B.Com courses. The student will be awarded Delhi University degrees in three years.
Many private universities also offer Professional Courses and are affiliated with Delhi University,
- For scores 60% and 75%
Horizons do get a bit broad but the quality of college would still not be up to the mark. People falling into this category should look into the colleges which require entrance tests and prepare for the same such as management studies, mass communication, journalism, elementary education and foreign languages. A student should also consider going to a private college if they can afford one. There are several excellent private universities in India such as Ashoka University, O. P. Jindal University etc.
- For scores 75% and 90%
A student falling into this category should be realistic about their options and choose wisely accordingly. Cut-offs for various courses do tend to stay above 90%, do watch out for subsequent lists. Also, again applying to private universities is not such a bad idea if you can afford one.
- For 90% and above
Most of the colleges which admit students based on CBSE Class 12th board percentage tend to accept students who have their percentages over 90%. They have a good chance of getting into a good college and those above 95% should not worry much about the cut-offs. Also, make sure to choose the right course for you as it is very crucial.
In the end, the ideal percentage eventually boils down to the student’s personal choice of career and college. Not every child with 90% has a shot at life and a successful career. We are all special in our regards. So, keep working hard and all the best.
