2019 CBSE Class 12 Chemistry question paper analysis

The 2019 CBSE Class 12 Chemistry examination was conducted on 12th March 2019 between 10:30 am to 1:30 pm with 15 minutes extra allotted for reading time.
Chemistry, being the important subject, it is. Hold a lot of value for students aiming for various degree programmers’ after their 12th. Scoring good in Chemistry also increases their chances of getting accepted to a good university or college.
Unlike the Maths paper, the Chemistry paper was considerably difficult and the intensity of the difficulty was not balanced at all. Some students found certain sections of the paper to be extremely difficult. It also raised the concerns over a truly balanced paper. On the contrary, teachers and experts commented that the chemistry paper was of moderate level difficulty. Whatever the consensus may be, the students found the paper to be extremely polarizing.
Breakdown of the format:
The paper was divided into 4 sections, that being Section A, B, C and D. All of the sections combined had 27 questions and the maximum marks totaled to 70.
The marks carried by each section are:
Section A- Questions 1-5, Carried 1 mark each.
Section B- Questions 6-12, Carried 2 marks each
Section C- Questions 13-24, Carried 4 marks each.
Section D- Questions 25-27, Carried 6 marks each
Highlights:
The initial reaction of the students was that the paper was moderately difficult but a lot lengthier than they had expected. While comparing the different sets, the students concluded that the paper was balanced, lengthy and moderately difficult. Most of the students were confident of scoring well and there was a little concern about failures. Teachers and experts concluded that even though the paper was lengthy and easy. There were some questions which would require lengthy calculations but nothing out of the ordinary. When compared the two sets, many of the experts concluded that Set 1 was more difficult than Set 2. Do note that, even though the difficulty varies from set to set. The CBSE board does its best to balance it out and have a more just result. The teachers also promised to point out all the difficult questions in the feedback they submitted.
