5 things to keep in mind while going for your...
As the final months go by, students tend to grow more and more anxious for their CBSE board exams. It is normal but students should refrain from giving in to their anxieties. A student should have a stable and optimistic mindset while going for CBSE board examination. CBSE board examinations are the first competitive exams for millions of students. Thus, they are confronted by a humongous syllabus, peer pressure, parental pressure to score well and so much more that it is unfathomable. Given below are the 5 important things that students should keep in mind while going for their CBSE boards exams, whether it be class 10th or 12th:
- Shoot for sincerity, not seriousness
Students need to realize that in the case of boards, the need to be more sincere rather than serious. Be sincere with your preparation and do not overestimate your capability or your preparation. Make sure to have efficient time management, keep practicing regularly. All this will help you in building self-confidence gradually and eventually succeed. Make sure to not to procrastinate and keep introspecting regularly. Make the best of your time and success will follow. Set realistic weekly goals and make a time table which you can abide by. Make sure to keep checking the completion of your goals for the same. Course correct yourself if not on the right path.
- Maintain a separate notebook for notes and formulas
As the student who is about to appear for their board, there is just so much information that students find themselves lost in all the important concepts and formulas which seem to be infinite. It usually discourages and frightens students who tend to overlook such crucial information. Students should consider maintaining a notebook which should have only important formulas, theorems, notes, reactions and diagrams. The notebook will come in handy for a quick revision for students who can skim through the content of the notebook and retain the information. Students should make it a point to revisit the notebook from time to time so that the student does not forget the information.
- Do not buy too many books
The biggest mistake that students commit is that they buy too many books for preparation. Their misconception being that NCERT is not enough and they do need some external help. They think that buying supplementary books would be beneficial, rather it reaps the opposite outcome. Students become more disoriented and find themselves lost in the seemingly infinite amount of information right on their fingertips. They also start to procrastinate as they say that they are on the quest of searching the “perfect book.” It eventually results in a huge pile of unused books and not much improvement in their academic performance. Students should rather make NCERT their primary book for studying for their board examinations and buy some reference book for revision. This does not mean that a student should completely refrain from buying reference book; what it means is that a student should only make the NCERT their primary book of choice.
- Escape the peer pressure
Do not give in to peer pressure by checking on your friends or doing what they are doing. Realize and understand that every individual is different and would prepare differently. Constantly checking on your friends can lead to extreme mental pressure and even lead to students getting a complex from their friends. Minimize your social media usage and refrain to asking or telling your friends about your progress.
- Solve sample papers and previous years’ question papers
Skim through previous years’ question papers occasionally as they help in enhancing the understanding of the format of a board paper. Solving sample papers can help in checking the amount of progress one has made and make plans according to it. CBSE questions tend to repeat themselves from time to time and previous years’ questions are the best way to be ready for them.
