5 tips for understanding & committing to memory Maths formulas...

Its been seen that most students find Maths so difficult. Because they have a lot of formulas to learn. By the time a student reaches Class 10, Maths formulas are not that simple anymore and so it becomes more and more difficult to memorize them and remember them for years to come.
Formulas cannot be learned within one day. For this, you need practice and consistency.
Class 10 students struggle a lot to understand the basic concepts of mathematics. Because without understanding the basic concept, we cannot proceed towards solving a maths problem.
  1. Remove tensions at first To learn the Class 10 Maths formulas, you need a stress-free mind. Meditating for at least 10 minutes and you will realize that the pressure and depression dissolves. Energize yourself to learn everything in the sheet containing the formulas. Drink, eat something or go to the washroom if you feel the need to do before starting to read the formulas. As you start reading the formulas, stay focused and be positive, and keep on reading all the formulas again and again.
  2. Conceptual understanding of a formula– With the help of understanding a concept, one can remember the formula easily. If you try to memorize Maths formulas, then you would remember temporary. So it is better not to memorize and instead understand the formulas first.Instead of just trying to memorize it, try to understand it. Linking formulas with concepts helps in learning the formulas faster, therefore leading to a better understanding of the formulas.
  3. Deriving formulas– To understand the formulas better, it is also good to first understand the Maths problems by using the core formulas only.
  4. Practice problems without the help of formula Sheets-
Learning formulas by heart does not mean that they will remain stuck in your memory permanently. If by chance you remember those formulas, then you won’t be able to use them to solve Maths questions until and unless you use them again and again. More problems you solve based on a formula, more are the chances that you remember it for years. Some problems are even very tough even for the brilliant students. But they learn through practice.
Daily solve many problems without viewing the formula sheet or any other reference books. Repetition is the only way to strengthen Memorization. After solving the problem, check whether the answer and procedures are correct or not. Such memory exercises, done repeatedly will help in retaining formulas in your mind forever.
Though Maths problems appear tough for some of the Class 10 students. But if the student follows the above steps daily, then surely he/she will get a good knowledge of the formulas and the fear of Maths will get removed after a few days. And a good score can be expected for those appearing for the CBSE 10 exams.
