Calculus is something which is especially dreaded by most of the CBSE Class 12th Math students. The students especially have a hard time in grasping and understanding the wide variety of topics that the subject covers. One of the most crucial aspects of it is the different parts which are interconnected in a very unique way. If a Class 12 CBSE student misses even one area of study, they won’t be able to grasp any other area of study which the subject covers. Resources such as the internet are not much help as they won’t provide with a substantial and comprehensive course which would result in a good learning experience. A student’s success, when it comes to grasping and understanding calculus eventually comes down to his/her own will and determination. Calculus is the kind of subject which gets better with more and more practice and hard work. There are a wide variety of books available in the market which do help a lot but, in the end, it depends upon the individual and his/her resilience and willingness to commit to the subject and work hard to master it. Class 12th CBSE students need to understand the workings of this intricate topic and not overlook it by considering it to be more difficult than other subjects. They just need to give it quality time in understanding certain concepts, and what the concept is trying to communicate.
Calculus eventually boils down to three fundamental concepts which make up for the majority of the subject. All of them are listed below:
- Limits: It is the idea of getting infinitely close to a point but never actually getting there.
- Derivatives: The derivative of a function of a real variable measures the sensitivity to change of the function value concerning a change in its argument.
- Integrals: Integration can be used to find areas, volumes, central points and many useful things.
For the students who take a genuine interest in the topic and understand how it functions. Calculus sometimes even becomes their favorite subject!
Now, that we know about the three pillars of Calculus. We may move on to how can one learn Calculus. Even though Calculus may seem absurdly far away from real life. It is not that far-fetched, rather, it is more than not the study of change itself. To master Calculus, a student has to understand all the three fundamentals of the subject. Students may even prefer to relate it to real-life scenarios and drill down the concepts even more concretely. A firm grip on all these three concepts will understand the connection between the three unique fundamental aspects of the subject.
After mastering the fundamentals, a student should move towards the more complex concepts such as Chain Rule, Product Rule and so on. Alongside, do not forget to keep practicing regularly and keep getting better. The practice is crucial because it will help the students to grasp the concepts and also will be able to memorize and remember the formulas well and even learn the various applications. Students with Physics have an upper-hand over the students who don’t as they will be able to apply several concepts of Calculus in the subject.
