Organic Chemistry is a hard nut to crack for a lot of students. CBSE Class 12th students tend to take it as a long and arduous subject which is so vast that one cannot master it. To learn and score good in Organic Chemistry, one doesn’t need to ignore the subject but rather befriend it. The abundance of various 450 reactions makes it even harder to understand the subject and scares the students away. However, this much detail may not even be that bad as it is manageable but with dedication, hard work and effective planning. Think about it, if you learn 5 formulas and reactions every day for three months. You can cover all the 450 reactions given in the book! Organic Chemistry, for everything it has needed good planning above everything. Organic chemistry is a part of chemistry which tethers on the edge of concept and memorizing. Even though understanding of concepts is a must, organic chemistry does require quite a lot of memorizing and students need to make sure of it. Revision of old concepts is a must and with that, learning of new concepts is even more important. Memorization is hard and inefficient but organic chemistry needs it. Having a good command and knowledge of Organic chemistry will also help Class 12th CBSE students in cracking IIT-JEE and other competition. Given below are some of the tips which will help Class 12th CBSE students to score good marks in their boards and competitive examinations respectively:
1. NCERT
Although it is the simplest book for organic chemistry, it is by far the most efficient and simple one. It covers every topic, although not in detail it is a good starting point for CBSE Class 12th students to get familiar with the topics and plan their future studies accordingly. It will also help the Class 12th CBSE student to move from topic to topic and relate the same.
2. Move on to more complex books\
After going through NCERT, move on to more complex books like Chhaya Chemistry which will provide you with the complex know-how of the concepts and would help you to dedicate yourself to the subject. Do keep visiting NCERT from time to time to check your progress and revise the topics.
3. Do not forget Name Reactions
While name reactions may seem a lot easy, they are not. During the time of preparation and reading, they will seem a lot easy and simple but many Class 12th CBSE students tend to forget the end product in the board examination hall. So, to tackle this problem maintain a separate notebook and keep revising the reactions and even memorize them.
4. Practice is the key
Tackle organic chemistry, like math. A CBSE Class 12th student would get better with more and more and practice and hard work will result in better marks and knowledge. Keep solving previous year problems and do keep a note of the problems in the various books. Practice the questions given in class and keep a note of your shortcomings.
