Class 12th CBSE students find Physics especially difficult. This generally attributed to the vast amount of syllabus and derivations which are spread across two books. But if students understand and plan their preparation from the beginning of the session itself, they can understand and commit to the Physics formulas. A subject like Physics requires a good strategy for effective preparation. The syllabus contains around 10 units. Given below are 5 tips for understanding & committing to memory important aspects of Physics for CBSE 12th exams:
- Make 3 separate notebooks
A child should make 3 separate notebooks, one for important formulas, one for all the derivations and one for important definitions. This will help the student in effective revision as it dissects the syllabus and makes it more digestible for the student. Preferably, make notes while studying as they will help a lot in memory retention. A student will be able to revise and recall all the concepts just by having a glance at the notes. Making 3 notebooks would be especially helpful as they will help in the dissection of the topics and make it easier for the student to revise. Revise from your notes after finishing every chapter and update all the three notebooks with relevant information.
- To commit formulas to memory: Practice
There is no denying that practice will help a student out in more than one way. The more a student practices, the more will be his chances of scoring higher marks. Practicing won’t only help in scoring well, it will help you in committing your memory to formulas. This will foster a better understanding of the application of formulas and even the formulas themselves. They will also make you familiar with the exam pattern and the type of questions that come in the board papers.
- Revise formulas and concepts
Make sure to revise formulas and concepts after completing every chapter. The revision will be a key to success to remember all the derivations. Revision helps in building a strong foundation which a student can use in his advantage in scoring good marks in CBSE board examinations. Make sure to revisit the 3 separate notebooks you made from time to time as they will help in committing various formulas and derivations to memory.
- Do not forget to self-evaluate
The best way to learn formulas is to self-evaluate. Solving sample and old question papers from time to time and checking them routinely will not only enhance your preparation and the memorization but would help you to analyse your pitfalls when it would come to formulas and derivations. Make special note of such mistakes and work upon them.
- Start from the easiest ones then move on to more hard formulas
Starting from your comfort zone isn’t as bad as of idea it seems. Rather, starting from your comfort zone might just give you a head start as you will be able to memorize more and more in less time. Then, a student should move on to harder formulas and derivations. Do not forget to make a note of it in the notebooks you make!
